On Tuesday January 3, 2012, Edge MMA started a Women's Only Boxing Class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm!!! The instructor is Tana Gallegos who has been boxing for 18 years, has had over 60 fights, and even fought for a World Professional Title!!! So start the New Year out right... BRANDON WINS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Edge MMA's Brandon Ruiz won the 2011 FILA World Grappling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia, Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 2011!
Ruiz had to win four tough matches to win his first World Gold Medal in No-Gi Grappling. He had three decisions and a submission on the way to the Title. Brandon defeated Brazil’s Maicon Nunes, 6-0 in the semifinals, then stopped Mikael Knutsson of Sweden, 3-0 in the Gold-Medal Finals.
Ruiz was a No-Gi World Silver Medalist in 2008 and 2009. He is the brother of 2005 Greco-Roman World Bronze Medalist Justin Ruiz, and was a Team USA member in Greco-Roman when he competed in that style.
“Brandon looked great. This is what he has been waiting for. It was his third time in the Finals, and the third time was a charm... He got very emotional after his win. It meant a lot to him and he deserved it!” said (Edge MMA &) U.S. Team Coach Sheldon Marr.
Edge MMA's Shane Cross also represented the U.S. at the 2011 FILA World Championships at 80kg, and went 3-2 in the competition with very impressive wins over Serbia, Russia and Hungary!
Coach Sheldon Marr made his 5th appearance as a U.S. Coach in as many years, and his 2nd as Head Coach for the United States.

Team Edge proves once again to be one of the top Grappling Teams in the country by winning more medals than any other team in the nation at the 2011 U.S. World Grappling Team Trials, held on Aug 5-6, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV. By capturing the Gold in their weight classes, both Shane Cross and Brandon Ruiz will be representing Team Edge and the United States at the 2011 FILA World Grappling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 2011!
